Wise Words? - The Introduction

As a direct result of watching too much sex and the city, the witty young hermit of nowhere, Ohio has decided to start their own personal column. The focus of the column is going to be wisdom; things I learned from a short but thoughtful life mostly filled with over analyzing people, culture, and media. Its important to note that the idea of what Im writing is not to pretend to know anything for certain, nothing I write could ever pass as absolute truth worthy of the shouting from mountaintops. Thats not what wisdom means to me. 

Wisdom to me, is anything which combines subjective insight with objective experience to create something which is, well human. I'm not going to pretend that any of the conclusions I draw are going to be bullet proof; after all this is a column not a gospel. But I do make these promises to you, reader who may or may not ever exist. Everything which carries the title of this column or indeed my name in the byline is going to be thoughtfully conjured from nothing but the most genuine experiences I am capable of reporting on. 

So with that, please join me in as I stumble and fumble my way through life, as a chaotic bundle of confusion and broken identities trying every single day to find another reason to not kill myself. I hope that what I write can provide me with a little learning, you with a little solace, and the world with a little something to remember me by

Wise Words? Art vs Science

I guess for once Im going to do a bit of a continuation from my last piece, even though at this point that was almost two months ago. Last time on this weird smattering of thoughts that strains the limit of a coherent body of work, I talked about moving forward in my post college life and making decisions in a new way. I came away from that wanting to choose hope, to trust myself to have learned effectively from my past mistakes and to try concentrate less on them and more on the things that bring me hope. I tried to take my time with that one, but all the same I published it feeling like I had mostly dismantled my own and some media derived views of dwelling on regrets and dashing hope, but at the time I found it difficult to articulate what path forward might provide me with the most hope. In short, I didn’t know how to live my life in a hopeful way. Wise Words? Worthy Work

 In the tradition of life on earth, no one exists without sacrifice. Animals, for all the beauty truth and purity that the help bring into the world, certainly live very challenging lives. Each waking moment is a search, a quest for the next essential item. Everything in the world around them is either a resource or a competitor. Earth itself is only so large as what they can interact with and what visibly impacts them. Despite all our attempts to separate ourselves from the animal world, with clothes cars and capitalism all presenting a stark contrast to the utilitarian harmony of nature, human beings for the most part still live under these same conditions.
